Double Dates and Sweets (L x Reader)

''(Name), (Name)! Please come with me! I wanna go and meet Light!'', yelled my friend Misa.

I know it was a bit weird for someone like me, a serious and quiet person, to be friends with someone so energetic as Misa. But it happened. She was the first one to talk to me and after that we became friends. She was actually my only friend, since I was always a loner and never really socialised outside classes.

As for myself, I'm a law student, going to To-Oh University, so I'm really busy with classes and as a result, I almost never see Misa, since she is always with her managers, with her being a model and all that. So that is the main reason why I agreed to coming with her.

''Alright-'', I didn't even finish my sentence, because Misa tightly hugged me.

''Thank you, thank you! And don't worry! I won't leave you alone! Light has a friend, whom I want you to meet. I think that you will have many things in common!'', she said and started dragging me to where Light lived. You better not try to find me a boyfriend/girlfriend. You know how that ended up last time! I humiliated them with my law skills and they said they never wanted to see me again!

That sure is a nice apartment. I thought, as we entered the building. It looked like we were in a freaking hotel. Wait... it is a hotel! Why are we in a hotel in the first place?

''Light, Light! Misa is here!'', Misa started screaming all over the place. Finally Light showed up and greeted us.

''Misa please be quiet, we don't want to disturb the whole building. Hello (Name), nice to see you. I have to ask though, why are you here?'', he asked, being somewhat polite. Me and Light were just acquitances so I guess we had a friendly relationship.

''I wanted to see you Light! Aren't you happy to see Misa?'', she asked. Misa can't you see you are annoying him?

''... It's not that I didn't want to see you Misa, but me and Ryuzaki have some work to do.'', he told her, trying not to hurt her feelings. I still can't understand why Misa loves him. He is obviously not interested in her, so why?

''I know! That's why Misa Misa thought that you should have a break and we should go on a date!'', she enthusiastically said.

''Misa, I don't-'', Light was going to say, but another voice interrupted him.

''Light, I think Miss Amane is right. You should go out on a date with her.'', said, who I'm guessing was Light's friend, Misa talked about. The young man was, relatively, tall and slim, with 'all around the place' black hair, very pale skin and dark eyes that had dark circles under them. What a strange man. And the strangest thing was that he wasn't wearing any shoes and he wasn't standing straight.

''See? Ryuzaki agrees with Misa! Come on Light!'', Misa continued.

''...Uh, alright. But Ryuzaki will come with us.'', Light said and smirked towards Ryuzaki. He was looking at his feet, but looked up, when his name was mentioned.

''That's great! We can have a double date! Misa with Light and Ryuzaki with (Name)!'', she said enthusiastically. WHAT?? I'm not going on a date with someone I just met!

''Wait-!'', I was going to protest, but Ryuzaki interrupted me.

''Alright then. Let's go.'', he said and all of them started walking.

''Are you coming...?'', he asked, not knowing my name.

''It's (Name).'', I said.

''Nice name.'', he said and I reluctantly started following him. I need to protest more.

We arrived at the cafeteria and ordered some coffee. The only one doing small talk was Misa and sometimes me or Light would answer her. I've got say that this was the most akward encounter I've ever had. And I thought that I was the akward one. At some point, Misa's phone rang and she picked it up, only to find out that she was needed for a photoshoot. Misa started apologising for 'destroying our double date', but Light seemed really happy that it was over and Ryuzaki and I held our poker faces. Just as I was about to get up to leave, Misa pushed me down and said:

''No, no, don't leave! I know that we have to leave, but it doesn't mean that your date must end! Stay here and have fun!'', she said.

''But-''

''No buts!... Look (Name), Misa knows that you haven't had a relationship in a long time, so that's why Misa wants you to try and talk to Ryuzaki. Misa thinks that you'll be a really cute couple!'', she whispered to my ear and then her and Light left. I returned to my seat, only to see that Ryuzaki had ordered a huge piece of cake. How can he eat that? It looks disgusting.

''So they left?'', he asked after a couple seconds of silence.

''Uh... yes. Look if you want to leave too then I have no-''

''Why would I want to leave? I believe that your company is quite relaxing.'', he said. Wow, that's the first time somebody said that they enjoy my company.

''... I see...'', I said and silence followed. It wasn't as awkward as the previous one, but it still was awkward. That stopped though, when Ryuzaki spoke.

''It seems that there is some awkward silence and I don't see any reason for it.'', he said and looked at me.

''Uh... yeah, it's just that I'm a little shy around strangers.'', I said and avoided looking at him.

''We are not strangers, right? You know my name, I know your name, we have common friends and we talk right now, so I don't see how we are strangers.'', he said. He does have a point.

''Well yeah... but I don't know anything about you...'', I said.

''What do you want to know then?'', he asked and continued eating his cake.

''Uhh... Do you go to To-Oh University, because I think I've heard your name before. You were in the opening ceremony, right?'', I asked.

''That's correct. And you, (Name) (Last name), are a law student, am I correct?'', he said and I was left shocked. How does he know this?

''I see that you are confused. Misa-chan often follows Light, so I've learned about her best friend, you (Name).'', he explained.

''I see... Now that I think about it, I think I've heard about you from Misa. She says that you are very smart and that you solve crimes as a job.''

''That's not entirely true. I'm solving mysteries as a hobby.'', he said, not denying the fact that he was smart. Is he a bit arrogant?

''Hmm, and are you on a case right now?'', I asked.

''Yes, I'm looking for Kira. I think you know him.'', he said.

''Yes, I am aware of whom Kira is.''

''And what is your opinion on him?''

''He might be killing criminals, but he is a criminal himself. What he does isn't legal, so I believe that he should be captured as soon as possible.'', I said and he seemed to think about my answer. Did I say something wrong?

''Is that so (Name)? Well then, I'm guessing that you have about 2% chance of being Kira.'', he said with a serious tone.

''What?! You were interrogating me?!... But I'm guessing that you won't leave me alone until these chances are 0%. Am I right?'', I asked.

''That's right (Name). You are not as stupid as I thought.'', he said casually and it took a moment to comprehend what he had said.

''Heh?! I'm not stupid!'', I protested.

''That's what I said, didn't I?'', he asked.

''No, you said 'as stupid as I thought'! That means that you still consider me an idiot!'', I said. Since when do I care if somebody considers me an idiot?

''That's correct, but not anymore.'', he said and stood up to leave.

''Goodbye (Name). Let's meet again.''


It's been about a month since I've met Ryuzaki, no L, and we've become quite good friends. After a couple of weeks from our first meeting, L considered me trustworthy enough to tell me his real name. He was the well known detective that never showed his face. And I knew about him. I admired him and his skills, his intelligence. And I thought myself as lucky to be friends with him. I even helped him with the Kira case! Not that we had gotten anywhere closer to finding Kira, but he told me that my intelligence could help in the future. I wasn't really confident about it, but since he said it then he must be correct, right?

Today Misa decided to have another double date with L and Light. I think that she has understood that I'm starting to like L in a more romantic way and she has been trying to get us two together. Why doesn't she leave me alone? I think I can do it by myself if I need to right? Just tell yourself the truth, you know nothing about relationships. Alright, alright that's true. But I don't want her to interfere. Well, too late now.

''And then my manager-! I've got to answer that.'', Misa said as she picked up her phone.

''Guys it was Misa Misa's manager. Misa has to go! I'm sorry, but Misa will see you later!'', she said and left. Damn it! That's what you did last time!

''I guess I will be going too... Ryuzaki we'll talk later.'', Light said and he too left.

''Alone again I see...'', said L.

''You make it sound like you don't want to be here.'', I said with a pout.

''You know that I enjoy your company, right?'', he asked.

''Yeah, yeah.'', I said playfully. Since when am I so happy and friendly?

''I'm glad you do.'', he said, as a waitress came with two pieces of cake and set them in front of me and L. I was ready to protest, since I hadn't ordered any cake, but L interrupted me.

''I ordered it for you.'', he said.

''That's very kind of you, but I don't like sweets.'', I said and he looked at me with wide eyes. Well, wider than they looked. I think that's the first time L showed emotion on his face.

''How can someone not like sweets?'', he asked.

''I just don't really like them. I might eat once in a while, but I don't really prefer eating them.'', I answered.

''Yes, but you do know that they help you by giving you energy for whatever you want to do.'', he said.

''So does coffee.'', I answered back.

''Yes, but they put sugar in your coffee.''

''I drink it black.''

''Still, you have to eat. They make some of the best cakes in town. And I know a lot about cakes.'', he said.

''I'm fine. And since you like sweets so much, you can have my piece.''

''No, it is yours to eat.'', he insisted.

''Look, whatever you say, I'm not going to eat it.'', I said.

''Come on. Just one bite.'', he said and brought the cake closer to my face. I kept on avoiding it and he kept on trying to feed me the damn cake. He sure is persistent. After some time, of me dodging the cake and him trying to feed me, my phone rang. I picked up and heard Misa on the other side of the phone.

''Hey (Name), how is the date going?''

''Look, it's not a date. We just followed you because you kept on bugging us to come.'', I whispered.

''No, it's still a date! Has Ryuzaki made a move yet?''

''No! It's not like that. Look, I'll call you later.''

''Wait! Misa-'', she was going to say but I hung up. As I turned to look at L, I felt something warm on my lips. He was kissing me! That didn't last for long though, because after a couple of seconds he pulled away and I could taste something sweet in my mouth. He kissed me, so that I would eat the cake?!... He sure is smart.

''Did you like the cake?'', he asked casually.

''Why did you do that?''

''Because you wouldn't eat it and I've seen you looking at me when you think that I'm looking the other way. That means that you like me, right?'', he asked.

''I... I... Yes, I do like you, but I understand if you don't-''

''That's good to hear, because I like you too (Name).'', he interrupted me.

''Really?''

''I said so, didn't I?''

''Yes-''

''Alright then. Do you want some more cake?'', He asked and put some cake on his lips.

''You know what? I think I do.'', I said and kissed him.
